Although the KitchenAid Pro Line Series KUDE48FXSP is missing a couple features, this dishwasher is one of the best units in our comparison. This KitchenAid dishwasher has a significant number of wash cycles, wash options and additional features. It also cleans heavily soiled dishes quickly and proficiently. All of these strengths helped this dishwasher earn our TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award.
You have a choice of five wash cycles and six wash options on this dishwasher unit, which is plenty of variety. However, we were disappointed to see no small-load or rinse-only cycles included. The cycles it has will run very quiet though; the dishwasher has a low 46-decibel sound rating.
This unit uses two spray arms – one on the bottom and one in the middle – to wash the dishes on the two racks. You can put up to 15 place settings in this dishwasher in a single load, which is fairly standard.
The wash cycles you get on this unit are KitchenAid’s ProWash cycle, a heavy duty, normal wash, light/china and a one-hour wash cycle. The wash options you can choose from are KitchenAid’s ProScrub option, a high-temp scrub, sani rinse, heat dry, four-hour delay and a control lock option.
We are especially impressed with the ProWash and the ProScrub functions on this dishwasher unit. When you select the ProWash cycle, the dishwasher will automatically run the best cycle for the current load. For instance, when this wash cycle is selected with heavily soiled dishes loaded, the heavy duty wash cycle will be chosen automatically. The ProScrub wash option takes away all necessary presoaking and prescrubbing that you may already be doing with your current dishwasher by using 40 spray jets to tackle even the dirtiest dishes.
Other notable features include a one-hour wash cycle, sani rinse wash option and four-hour delay wash option. The one-hour wash cycle allows you to expedite a load if you're in a hurry. The sani rinse option is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation and uses extremely hot water to sanitize your dishes.
Based on the unit’s EnergyGuide, this unit will cost you an estimated $33 annually to operate and will consume around 279 kilowatt-hours. As an Energy Star qualified unit, this KitchenAid Pro Line Series dishwasher has a couple energy-saving functions that you can use to be extra environmentally friendly. To save energy on the drying side, you can turn off the heat-dry option to let the dishes air-dry. The ProWash cycle can automatically determine the wash cycle necessary for the load you are washing. This energy-saving function could save you from using unnecessary water and energy when the dishes you are washing don’t need it.
KitchenAid doesn’t skimp on warranty coverage. The dishwasher’s parts and any labor necessary are covered for the first year. The racks and electronic parts on the unit are backed by a five-year warranty while the tub and door liner are covered by a lifetime warranty.
You can contact KitchenAid for support by phone, email or the live chat function on its website. You can also reference the dishwasher’s user manual, FAQs and product tutorials on its website.
